Install Weather Indicator under Ubuntu 11.04

Install “My Weather Indicator” in Ubuntu

To add the PPA and install My Weather Indicator in Ubuntu Lucid, Maverick or Natty, use the following commands:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:lorenzo-carbonell/atareao
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install my-weather-indicator

Once installed, run it by going to Accessories > My Weather Indicator.

How to fix the SD card reader on HP Mini 110 under UBuntu 10.10

- You have to download this file:
- Get in the directory where the .bz2 file is located, and unzip it
- Enter the following commands (not in a batch, one by one):
cd rts_pstor
make
sudo make install
sudo depmod
- Restart your computer, and connect an SD card.

Keep Windows Always on Top with DeskPins

This little tool will let any window remain always on top of others. It looks like the pushpin you see on Unix environments such as SUN Solaris. This one is for Windows programs. Again, this is something that already exists in Linux. But for my Windows friends, this one will make your life sometime easier.

xrandr: Change X display resolution on-the-fly

The xrandr command can be used to change the resolution of the X display. the “xrandr -s” command will set the resolution, while the xrandr command by itself will list the available resolotions for the connected devices.
